Amendment to the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law
Regulation Amending the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law ("Regulation”) was published in the Official Gazette numbered 32397 and dated December 12, 2023 and entered into force as of the same date.
Pursuant to the said the amendment, a foreigner would no longer be eligible for Turkish citizenship solely by purchasing any real property for USD 400,000 or its equivalent in another foreign currency. Instead, the real property must be a real property with a condominium ownership or condominium easement established or a land with a building thereon in addition to the requirement on its purchase price.
Thus, the real properties that the foreigners will be required to purchase to become Turkish citizens have been limited to the independent sections in buildings with condominium ownership or condominium easement, and land plots with a zoning permit on which there are previously built structures.
