Onur Ergönen successfully completed his law degree at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, following his graduation from Istanbul Private German High School. Subsequently, he pursued doctoral studies at the Institute of Foreign Law and International Private Law, within the Faculty of Law at the University of Cologne. His research culminated in the awarding of the degree of Doctor Iuris ("Doctor of Law") with magna cum laude distinction in 2014. His doctoral thesis, titled "Turkish Arbitration Law and the Role of Turkish Courts in National and International Arbitration," was published as a book by the esteemed German publishing house Mohr Siebeck in December 2022. Prior to the publicaton, the book has been updated with relevant current sources and court decisions, ensuring its accuracy and relevance.
He specializes in dispute resolution and serves as an accomplished legal practitioner in this domain. He effectively represents domestic and international clients before mediators, courts, and arbitration tribunals in various types of disputes arising from diverse areas of private and administrative law, especially in commercial law, contracts law, mergers and acquisitions, construction and real estate law, labour law, intellectual property law, administrative and tax law matters. He also renders comprehensive legal consultancy services, with a focus on the aforementioned areas of expertise.
